As the 2023 Iowa Legislative Session kicked off on Monday it gives one Dallas County lawmaker time to get with her committees.

Senator for District 14 Sarah Trone-Garriott says she was assigned to work on the Health and Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee which focuses on health and child care, health and well-being issues, natural resources and commerce. She is also part of the standing committees that include education, human resources and natural resources and environment. Trone-Garriott explains why she wanted to be part of these committees.

“Well, for me, it’s about helping to educate the people in our community about what happens in state government. A lot of people pay attention to the national news and national politics, but the things that really impact our lives as Iowans happen at the State Capitol.”

Trone-Garriott also encourages Iowans to get in touch with their legislators after the district lines have changed. The legislative session started on January 9th.
