It’s another busy week for the Greene County High School wrestling team with action tonight, Thursday, and Saturday. Two trips to Perry are included in the mix with a double-dual tonight vs. the Blue Jays and Coon Rapids-Bayard, then the Perry Invitational on Saturday. In between is a Thursday double-dual at Jewell with South Hamilton and PCM (Monroe). The Rams are 7-7 in dual meets including 2-0 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference.
Top ranked and undefeated seniors Kale Petersen (23-0 at 132 lbs.) and McKinley Robbins (26-0 at 138) lead the way for the Rams. Both won individual titles for the Rams last Saturday at the Rollin Dyer Invitational in Atlantic. Robbins topped an undefeated wrestler in 3A and the second ranked individual in 1A, while Petersen won 7-6 in the title match vs. Underwood’s Gable Porter, #1 in 1A, in what may have been one of the highlight matches so far in the entire state. Both are two-time State Champions and Petersen has now won 55 straight matches and he ended Porter’s win streak at 64 matches.
