One Jefferson based bank was recently honored as the recipient of a new award.
Home State Bank was named the Friend of Extension Award from the Southwest Region in Iowa. Greene County Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway says this new award is to recognize a non-extension person, business or organization and is designed to honor the outstanding support and personal involvement within the extension community.
Hardaway points out that Home State Bank exemplifies what this award means with its partnership with Greene County Extension for over 60 years. Home State Bank’s impacts to the local extension program includes supporting agricultural programming, the Greene County Fair, 4-H fundraisers, sponsoring Ag Coffees and private pesticide applicator training by providing notepads, pens and water. Hardaway adds several employees also volunteer within the Extension Office and 4-H program and it is estimated that the bank donates $10,000 annually.
Hardaway adds they are proud to work with Home State Bank as they continue their long standing partnership.
Greene County 4-H has awarded Home State Bank the Friend of 4-H in 1976, 2014 and 2022, along with the Meritorious Service Award in 1960 and 2020.
