ADM’s boys soccer team traveled to Pella for a tournament over the weekend, and while the Tigers played well, the results were disappointing.
Head coach Bill Shields says his Tigers played solid soccer in both of their matches Saturday, but neither resulted in a victory.
In their first match, ADM drew Ottumwa to a tie, 0-0. Then in game two, the Tigers fell to Southeast Polk 1-0. Coach Shields says he’s happy with how his team played in both contests against Class 3-A foes, but his players need to a better job of capitalizing on their goal scoring opportunities.
Shields says he was particularly pleased with how well his boys moved the ball and kept possession in their draw against Ottumwa.
ADM is now 5-5-1 on the season after their weekend action. They’ve been shut-out four times on the year.
Jake Hutzell continues to lead the Tigers in goals scored, as he’s got eight through his team’s first 11 matches. Noah Bardwell and Derek Gushiken are tied for second on the squad with four goals scored each.
Next up for the ADM boys is a JV/Varsity doubleheader at Newtown on Thursday. The Cardinals are 4-3 so far this season.
