Competing at the Drake Relays is one of the grandest stages for a high school track and field athlete, and the ADM Tigers who took part this past weekend put forth some outstanding performances.

On Friday, boys’ shot putter Jesse Bennett started off the action by coming in 21st place in his signature event with a throw of 45’6.75”.

Most of Friday’s slate revolved around the ADM girls though, as the Tigers had seven different events competing that day.  Here are some of those results:

Sprint star Kari Dufoe came in third place in the highly anticipated 100-meter final.  Dufoe’s time of 12.37 seconds trailed event winner Jalynn Roberts-Lewis of Des Moines Roosevelt by just over a tenth of a second.

Brianna Mueller and Madi Bertman also competed on their own Friday.  Mueller finished 15th in the 800-meters with a time of 2:21.28.  Bertman came in 22nd in the long jump with a best jump of 14’10”.

In the relay events, ADM’s 4×100 meter team of Madi Bertman, Haley Schepers, Sydney Bertman and Kari Dufoe finished 37th in the event’s prelims.  The girls’ were about a second and a half behind qualifying for the final.

On Saturday, the ADM girls 4×400 relay team finished in 6th-place.  The squad of Torrie Hook, Brianna Mueller, Regan Engleman and Kari Dufoe finished in 4:01.56.  In their qualifying run, those girls put up a time about two seconds faster to be the fourth seed in the final.

The ADM boys also had an athlete compete Saturday, as hurdler Tate Jensen finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.91.
