In one of the more competitive games of the season, the Greene County girls’ basketball team lost to 43-19 in Jefferson to non-conference opponent Webster City on Monday night. The Rams were down by just 10 points at 23-13 at the end of the third quarter. The Lynx improved to 2-7 while the Rams fell to 0-9.

Alley Odland had 11 points for the Lynx and Ava Petersen added nine. The Rams were led by senior Emma Hoyle’s seven points. WC went 16 of 56 from the floor while the Rams were eight for 29. Greene County turned the ball over 36 times to 22 for the Lynx.

The Lynx jumped out to a 14 point lead before the Rams got on the scoreboard. The score was 17-5 at intermission and 23-13 at the end of the third period. Monday’s action was heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

Greene County will host Saydel (Des Moines) on Friday night in a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girl/boy doubleheader on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coverage starts at 5:45 p.m. with the girls playing at 6 and the boys to follow.
