The Dallas County Sheriff’s Benevolent Association organized a day full of giving back to the community.

Sheriff Adam Infante says that the benevolent association along with county employees, area partners and area volunteer fire departments came together to pass out 100 boxes of food to those in need in the community. Infante tells Raccoon Valley Radio that this is his favorite event that they put on every year.

“It’s tons of food, man. It’s a couple of weeks worth. We’ve gotten a couple of emails here from people who receive those boxes and to hear their story and how grateful they are that they’re able to make a rent payment because they don’t have to buy groceries. It kind of hits you right in the heart. It’s an awesome event and the sheriff’s office.”

Infante says they got help from schools, the community services office and the veteran’s affairs office to find those in the community that are food insecure to give the boxes to. He thanks everyone who contributed to this needed annual event.
