Home State Bank is currently underway building a second location in Polk City.
A groundbreaking ceremony took place this past October and President Bob Allen says they’ve been planning to build another location somewhere in that market for the past decade. He talks about why they chose Polk City.
“What we liked about Polk City is that it’s a community about 6,000 people, it’s very similar to Jefferson, where our home is and where our roots are and they’ll always be. They’ve got a little town square just like Jefferson does. It’s a nice community where a lot of people call home. The other thing that’s interesting about it too, there’s a lot of younger people that live there too. So it’s kind of exciting to be a part of them.”
Allen points out they have five people hired already and he thinks there will be about 8-10 employees to start working in Polk City. He notes that they want to bring the same community support and impact that they have already established here in Greene County.
“That’s what’s exciting is to be able to meet new people, be a part of their communities, their non-profits for example, and their school districts. And it’s just an opportunity to do what we do here and do it in a different market. We have the right people in Polk City that will do a wonderful job that, understand community banking very well (and) to be able to be a part of that community and watch that team grow as well is going to be really cool.”
The new Polk City location is expected to be open sometime in 2023.
