One important number that schools look at during the year is their certified enrollment.

West Central Valley Superintendent Rusty Shockley tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the school district has seen an increase this year putting them just short of 950 students. He adds that there’s more to enrollment than just the certified number.

“We were up 12.5 students for certified enrollment. When you actually look at students served, we were down to 14 students.”

Shockley says that what this means is that West Central Valley has more students in the district, but that there are more students \open enrolling to other school districts.
