The Dallas County Public Health is really pushing the new COVID-19 Bivalent Booster with winter illness going around.

Navigation Coordinator Ann Cochran says that getting the new bivalent vaccine protects individuals from being hospitalized from getting the omicron-strain of COVID-19. Cochran explains that many people who got the primary series of vaccines, over a year ago, have seen their protection diminish. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio the best way to get the Omicron-specific vaccine

“The usual places are the best. If you normally go to a pharmacy where they’re able to do that, if you usually go to your own, um, primary physician clinic, any of those kinds of locations are fine. There is a great supply of the vaccine right now, so there shouldn’t be any problem with that.”

Cochran adds that people can get a vaccination through the health department but they would those interested to set up an appointment at their website or by call their office.
