The newly elected US Representative for Iowa’s Third Congressional District pledges his support for the next House Speaker. 

Congressman-Elect Zach Nunn says he will be backing Congressman Kevin McCarthy of California to be the next Speaker of the House after the Republicans took the majority in Congress this past November. Nunn tells Raccoon Valley that Congress needs a pragmatic leader like McCarthy. 

“I’ll tell you what I have liked. I liked it. He has listened to the Iowa delegation. He’s given me time to present to him on why I think proxy voting needs to end, why we need to ban stock trades by members of Congress. But he’s also already taken proactive action to make a commitment that he’ll throw congressmen like Eric Swalwell, who was directly involved in a Chinese spy ring and had a domestic affair with a Chinese foreign agent in California. We’ll make sure those people are no longer serving on the House Intelligence Oversight Committee, where they currently serve today.” 

The Bondurant Republican joined three other Iowa US Representatives such as Ashley Hinson, Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Randy Feenstra with his support of McCarthy for House Speaker. The House will convene to vote for the Speaker of the House on January 3rd.
