There are many tips and tricks that officials recommend for driving in the winter.

Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Deputy Coordinator Jeremy Cooper says that one piece of advice he always gives is to make sure vehicles are ready for winter. He mentions that regular maintenance like making sure your battery is good, and that your cooling system is working properly are a big part of that.

Cooper tells Raccoon Valley Radio that having the right tires, and keeping them in good condition is also helpful. He advises that all weather or winter tires should be used, especially when there is a possibility of snow on the ground. He adds making sure that tires are properly inflated can be crucial as well. To find out how much air should be in your tires, check the owner’s manual, or the bottom of the door frame for the driver’s door.
