Many officials are still encouraging motorists to stay off the roads as the blizzard warning carries on throughout central Iowa.

Dallas County Engineer Al Miller says they are seeing normal winter driving conditions with the majority of the paved roads covered with snow and ice. He says with the amount of snow the county got they’re sitting in pretty good shape. He adds in wide open areas there will be limited visibility and drifting can be an issue in some spots.

Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante advises people to stay home and off the roads because they’re slick due to the wind that is blowing off the melting agents on the roadways. Infante encourages those to drive slow and under the speed limit and leave space if they do have to drive in these conditions. He says on a positive note, they have responded to just a few accidents and motorist assist calls today.
