It took a pair of weather related postponements before the Greene County High School wrestling team was able to host a meet for the first time this season. Coach Zach Beekman’s Rams improved to 5-6 in dual meets by going 4-0 on Tuesday night in Jefferson over Saydel (Des Moines), Nevada, CAM (Anita), and Van Meter.
The coach told Raccoon Valley Radio it was fun and fans turned out. “We know we’re not guaranteed to have another home meet with the weather problems we’ve already dealt with, so to have five teams in our gym was a little bit busy at times, but people showed up to support us and we had a good time wrestling. We wanted as many teams there as possible and it was competitive because all five are in the same boat with forfeits and having smaller numbers. The guys wrestled well, they showed up, and it was a good night!”
