The Raccoon Valley Radio listening area is in the middle of some severe winter weather causing transportation to become difficult.

Dallas County Engineer Al Miller says they have 10 motor graders plowing the major roads along with three pickups plowing the minor roads with routes going on all day today and tomorrow. He says the roads are in decent shape as of this morning but he’s afraid that the high winds that will come in the afternoon will cause problems.

“I would say we anticipate some conditions deteriorating as the wind picks up later. So I would suggest that if you don’t need to be out, don’t be out.”

Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante says that motorists need to drive with care because there are still roads in the county that are covered in snow and ice.

“The DOT has made a couple of passes. Now it’s getting better. We think it’s going to get worse as the day goes on.”

He says currently they haven’t been called out to a motorist assist call so he hopes that residents got the message to stay home. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes available.
