It’s break time for the Greene County basketball teams and the Rams stand at 3-5 overall on the boys’ side and 2-3 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. Greene County’s girls are 0-8, 0-5.
A look at boys’ conference stats shows senior Richard Daugherty ranks high in several categories. He’s averaging 16.1 points per game for the Rams, best on the Greene County team. Daugherty is third in the league in steals with 18, three-point attempts at 65, and in made three-point field goals with 22. He ranks fourth in points (129), assists (31), made field goals (47), and made three-pointers (22).
Coach Chris Nelson’s Rams open the 2023 portion of the schedule on Monday, Jan. 2 at the high school in Jefferson vs. Webster City as part of a girl/boy doubleheader. Both games can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage at 5:45 p.m., the girls’ game at 6, with the boys to follow.
