The Raccoon Valley Radio listening area is in the middle of some severe winter weather.

Right now the roads aren’t too bad according to Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright and Guthrie County Engineer Josh Sebern. Both say that the road crews have been out and are doing a good job of keeping roads visible, though with the wind snow keeps being blown back onto the pavement.

Sebern adds that the road crews have been out since 5am, and will continue to be out until 5pm unless conditions get too bad. He mentions that while they are getting the roads cleared, gravel roads and east-to-west roads are getting drifts from the blowing wind.

Arganbright advises county residents that there has been a tow ban in effect since last night, and it will stay in effect until further notice. He says that unless you absolutely need to go somewhere, it may be best to just stay put. He warns that for those that do have to be out and about, don’t drive too fast.

Stuart Public Works Director Jim Henderson says that city streets aren’t bad at the moment, and in preparation for conditions later, city road crews are continuing to periodically go out and clear the streets.

Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
