A fantastic crowd showed up to a presentation hosted by T-Mobile at the Adel Public Library to celebrate the grant that helped complete a local park on Saturday,

T-Mobile awarded the Adel Chamber of Commerce and Adel Rotary Club in June with the Hometown Grant Program. The program has a goal to help small towns across America grow by providing them with funding for community development projects and any town can apply if they have fewer than 50,000 residents. T-Mobile Indirect Sales Manager Gary Meier tells Raccoon Valley Radio that T-Mobile has pledged over the next five years to invest in small towns and a little over $40,000 will be going to the improvements to the Rotary Park.

“We knew that we kind of always struggled in our smaller communities as far as our network goes. So this is not only showing people that we’re giving back to those communities that we serve, but also that we’re investing in our overall network so things can work a little bit better for them on the sell side.”

Adel Rotary President Bob Grove says this project was completed two years ahead of schedule due to the help from T-Mobile.

“T-mobile has been very generous in helping us get this project off the ground and completed really ahead of schedule. But it’s something that can be a source of pride for our community and we’re able to partner with lots of great organizations in and outside of the community here.”

The beatification of Rotary Park was one of 25 communities selected for this Hometown Grant Program. T-Mobile also showed off their 25 foot Lite Brite and displayed it for the public while tossing out giveaways to the public. Pictures and a video can be found here.
