County Road E-57

A Greene County road project is slated for next year.

The Greene County Board of Supervisors recently approved a $2,303,283 4.5 mile asphalt overlay project on County Road E-57 from Highway 4 to County Road P-14. County Engineer Wade Weiss tells Raccoon Valley Radio the pavement was original when it was first installed in 1957 and that 4.5 mile stretch of road is needing some attention. He talks about how this project will be paid for.

“(The) E-57 overlay is federal aid dollars that we’ve saved up. We get about $200,000 a year, so we’ve saved quite a while for that project. We do have some matching funds from our farm to market account, which is the $1 million per year we get, about $500,000 we have to match that.”

The contractor will be Fort Dodge Asphalt and the project can begin as early as next spring.
