Last week the Friends of Lake Panorama announced that the new sports court for Sunset Beach had been completed.

The Friends of Lake Panorama wanted to have a basketball half-court and they received approval for the project in June of 2021. Then this last summer, the idea of expanding the court to make it possible to play pickleball as well was brought up. They needed another 10 feet to the original plan, and that would make the court large enough for both sports.

Between the Friends of Lake Panorama, Mark and Karen Einck, and other donors, a total of $38,000 was raised for the project. The 40 by 60 foot slab of concrete was poured in late October, with fencing going up in late November. Sports court tile was laid over the concrete, and a Goalsetter MVP hoop was erected.

Lines identifying the free throw line, three point line and lane were all painted in black, while lines for the pickleball court were painted white. Both the lane and the pickleball court were done in green tile, with the rest of the court covered in blue tile. A portable pickleball net is available, it will be stored along the fence when not in use, and added to the court in the spring.
