With inclement weather during the winter season, driving can become difficult at times.

Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams reminds motorists that when there’s adverse weather conditions on the roadways to never use cruise control.

“The cruise control, if you’re going, like our overpasses (or) going uphill, the cruise control is going to try and maintain your speed at whatever you set it at. Which could cause the tires to spin and you lose control.”

Williams also advises to slow down and apply brakes slowly when approaching slower moving vehicles and coming up to a yield and/or stop sign. He adds bridges and other free standing structures on the roadways ice up quicker, so motorists should take it slower when driving in those areas.
