The Dallas Center-Grimes girls wrestling will head to Marion tomorrow.
Wrestling Coach Rex Gray says this will be a dual round robin tournament with nine other schools at Linn-Mar High School. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio this is a unique tournament because it’s over Thanksgiving weekend and there is usually a lot of food consumed.
“ I’ve been around wrestling for, jeez, I don’t know, almost 30 years now. And I can’t remember any time that we would ever have wrestled over Thanksgiving. So we do go to Lin Mar on Saturday, which is a dual tournament. But I kind of told our girls early last week, I said, Hey, you know, after Saturday, I said, Wherever you girls want to be able to wrestle comfortably for the next couple of weeks, just let’s go. we’re not going to force you to go down to a weight class by any means. But we have a couple of girls that, you know, they I wouldn’t say they’re cutting, but they’re going down a weight class. It’s a little bit tougher for them. So I want them to feel good. I want them to feel comfortable.”
Weigh-ins will start at 9:30am and wrestling will start at 10am.
