The city of Perry is excited to continue work and have an end date for a maintenance project on Bateman Street.
City Administrator Sven Peterson explains that Bateman Street has been a project on their radar since 2019. Peterson says that they recently started repaving the stretch of Bateman Street between First Avenue and Third Street. He is hoping some of the warmer weather allows them to get the concrete poured on the first two blocks.
“So from First (Avenue) to Third (Street), Bateman Street will be paved, hopefully, and give a couple of weeks to cure out and then should be open once we get signage up and all of that good stuff. So kind of nice to be able to get that buttoned up for the rest of the snow flies. We already had one little snow. So definitely having to kind of play the weather here at the end of November to get that done. So excited about that.”
All stages of the project are expected to be completed by the spring of 2023 and motorists are urged to use Pattee Street to avoid any congesting traffic.
