Greene County wrestling cheerleader Gretah Kersey is the the Captain of the squad and she was Captain of the football cheer squad for the Rams. Football may be a bit more physical of the two sports, although wrestling could be more hazardous to cheerleaders. Kersey relays a story when cheering mat side that was a bit too close for comfort. “I was facing the left side talking about what cheer we were going to do and I don’t remember what weight class it was, but he just fell right on top of me and I had a nice big bruise on my leg the next day!”
She added, “You definitely have to be careful and watch out because they don’t care- if you’re in their way they are just going to go right over you!” Gretah is not especially big in stature, but she toughed it out and will be mat side on Nov. 29 when the Rams open the wrestling season at the high school gym in Jefferson by hosting Ogden, PCM (Monroe), and Van Meter.
