Yesterday on this page, Greene County head football coach Caden Duncan commented about first team All-State defensive back Richard Daughtery. Today, it’s second team selections from the Iowa Print Sportswriters Association he talks about in offensive lineman Noah Cornell and kicker Nathan Behne.
“Noah was probably our most consistent offensive lineman and he was a two-way starter for us. He’s not the biggest guy, but is very coachable and works hard in the weight room and the football field. I’m very happy he received this recognition,” said the coach.
About Behne, Coach Duncan said, “Nathan is a very good kicker and I tried to get him on first team, but the West Lyon (Inwood) kicker was selected, and he is also very good. Nathan had seven field goals, which really helped our offense, and nearly half his kickoffs were touchbacks, so that kept the other team from potentially getting good field position. I’m happy to have Nathan honored, and both Noah and Nathan will be back for us next year.”
The Rams won Class 2A District 8 and were 8-2 overall.
