Perry senior Lydia Olejniczak scored 21 points Monday night to power Perry past Des Moines Hoover 58-11 in the season opener for both teams. The night will be a milestone for the talented senior as she joined the distinguished 1000 career point club at Perry. The game was paused briefly and fans held up 1000 career point signs as Olejniczak raced down the court following a steal to lay in the bucket that put her in the elite group. She now has 1011 points in her career.
Regan Baldwin had an impressive varsity debut leading the Perry squad with 22 points. The freshman will be a key scorer for Perry this season and showed no signs of not being up for the challenge.
Perry is 1-0 and will travel to Ft. Dodge tonight for a game with St Edmond.
