The Greene County Career Academy has had a busy few months of the school year.

Greene County High School students that are taking health-care classes recently learned about real-world experiences from two high school graduates. Lauren Carlson and Sydney Schiltz graduated in 2018 and both work as nurses. They spoke to the nurse aide class and talked about different types of nursing including bedside, clinical, legal claims, working from home, and home-health care. Carlson is a nurse at Mary Greeley in Ames and Schiltz is a traveling nurse.

The health-care students also became CPR and AED certified through the Career Academy.

High school students taking welding classes also recently enjoyed a visit from a guest speaker. Logan Kucerak is a local welding engineer who works in aerospace and rockets, which has taken him across the globe. He talked with the students about his career path and the different jobs that are available within the welding industry.
