The Dallas Center Grimes Girls Basketball season will kick off tonight with their home opener against Ballard.
The Lady Mustangs will be coming off a successful season winning 21 games (which tied the most in school history) and losing in the State Semifinal game to Xavier. DCG will bring back some key pieces from that 2021 season that includes their top scorers Emma Miner (13.9 ppg) (2021 First Team All-Conference)and Finley Fitzgerald (8.1 ppg). Coach Adam Jones tells Raccoon Valley Sports about how his team can improve this year.
“We are never really completely happy where we’re at. Defensively, I think it’s an area of focus for us every year. We’ve been very good defensively and I think it’s been a big reason why we’ve been so successful. And so that’s a big area of focus for us. Defense and rebounding. We want to be good free throw shooters. That’s kind of gotten us in the past a little bit. So we want to work on those areas. But just overall, just continuing to play together as a team, playing a good team, defense, rebounding well and just going game by game is kind of our focus.:
The Ballard Lady Bombers are coming off a fantastic season also with a record of (23-4) and making it to the 3A State Title Game, it should a fun game that will take place at the DCG Meadows Gym at 7:45pm.
