The Greene County School Board met Monday in regular session.
During the consent agenda, the Board pulled out Brenda Onken’s retirement resignation and commended her for her years of service to the school district.
Next, the Board approved an amendment to the previously approved School Budget Review Committee’s Limited English Proficiency allowable growth request due to changes made in the weighting process and additional funds. Following positive recognitions from each of the school buildings, Greene County FFA members spoke about their trip to the National Convention. They highlighted different stops that included Caterpillar Center, the Louisville Slugger factory, the World’s Toughest Rodeo, Malibu Jacks amusement park and Churchill Downs.
The retiring board then adjourned and the organizational meeting began. The Board approved Bonnie Silbaugh as president and Cindi Daubendiek as vice president. They also approved keeping the regular board meetings as the third Wednesday of the month, except for spring break week and the November school board convention, along with approving committee assignments with no changes.
The Board also approved two School Budget Review Committee applications for open enrollment out of $53,479 and English Language Learners for $4,694, one school driving permit, two early graduation requests and two fundraising requests as presented. The Board also set a work session for November 30th at 5:15pm to set board goals for the school year with a representative from the Iowa Association of School Boards.
