The unofficial election results are in for Greene County.
There was one local contested race for Greene County Supervisor District 3 and voters have chosen Republican Dan Benitz as he has defeated Democrat challenger Mike Holden with 62-percent of the vote. Iowa House District 47 was also contested as Republican Carter Nordman defeated Democrat Gary Overla in Greene County with 67-percent of the vote. According to the Secretary of State’s website, Nordman also won in Guthrie County and the western portion of Dallas County.
Another interest for Greene County was a special ballot measure for whether or not Greene County should build a new jail not to exceed $12,685,000. The initiative failed with 57.45-percent of the vote and it needed at least 60-percent to pass.
All other local races were uncontested and had incumbents winning their respective races. Those individuals that were re-elected included County Supervisor District 1 Dawn Rudolph, County Recorder Deb McDonald, County Treasurer Katlynn Mechaelsen and County Attorney Thomas Laehn.
