The Perry City Council recently approved an item to further improve the Municipal Airport.

Mayor John Andorf says the Council made a big step in revitalizing their airport by approving a seventh pay application of $34,450 to Wenthhold Excavating at their most recent meeting in October. Andorf explains this improvement plan will extend the airport runway to 5,000 feet. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio why the Council wanted to get this accomplished.

“This is going to allow us to have bigger planes fly into Perry. Make it more of a regional airport, if you will, and get more business out there. We also, as part of this project, have put in a new facility to sell gas. So we’ve already seen more planes stop to buy gas at our airport and we actually make some money on that.”

Andorf says this is a project they have spent a lot of time on and he states that a majority of the costs have been picked up by the Federal Aviation Administration.
