There will be a chance of thunderstorms and showers flaring up today and then continue into Friday.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Donna Dubberke says that there is a small probability for tonight that thunderstorms become severe but people should expect a large amount of rainfall. Dubberke explains that the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area will get a quarter to a half inch of rainfall tonight along with receiving about three quarters of an inch on Friday. She states that the recent warm November weather could be a reason for the thunderstorms and rainfall.

“Certainly when we get in the sort of the transition seasons when we’re transitioning between so(did you mean the word so here? It seems out of place) in the fall and in the spring, when we’re transitioning between the winter and the summer, we definitely get these bigger swings. So we have some cold air coming in with a front, a cold front coming in and that’s what’s going to be supporting all the rain chances coming in Thursday and then it’ll linger into Friday as it cools off. ”

Dubberke points out temperatures will also fall back into the 50s by the weekend.
