The Community Players of Greene County is paying homage to its beginnings with their next upcoming performance.

Chad Stevens is making his directing debut with “See How They Run” that will be performed this weekend at the Greene County High School auditorium. Stevens points out this play was the first-ever performance by the newly formed Community Players 50 years ago as he explains the plot of the story.

“It’s a British farce, it’s fast-paced, it’a comedy. There’s going to be a lot of fun to watch. We’ve been rehearsing. We’ve been rehearsing for close to two months now. It’s going to be a great show.

The cast includes: Alexis Stevens as Penelope, Anna Pound is Ida, Miss Skillon will be portrayed by Stephanie Hall, Reverend Toop is Josh Tuel, Clive is Wes Anderson, Tim Pound is playing the intruder, Darren Jackson will portray the bishop, Ken Bose is the Reverend Humphrey and John Schoening will play Sergeant Towers. Chad talks about the majority of the cast are seasoned actors and actresses, which has helped him make the transition to directing, after he was in the previous Community Players production of “Clue.”

“It really makes it easy for me. They know what to do and they find their character and play it their part well, and I’m just trying to tweak some of the scenes a little bit, but it makes it really easy for me.”

Showtimes are Friday and Saturday nights at 7pm and Sunday afternoon at 2pm. Tickets are $12 per person and students are $7. Tickets are available at Home State Bank, Heartland Bank and Peoples Bank.
