All three counties in the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area continue to suffer from some level of drought.
According to the US Drought Monitor, about half of Dallas County is in a severe drought, while the rest of the county, along with all of Greene and Guthrie counties are under a moderate drought.
With only a few days left in October, all three counties are also well below their normal monthly average precipitation. According to the National Weather Service, Guthrie Center reported 0.40 inches and their October average is 2.58 inches. Perry has had 0.63 inches and their October average of rainfall is 2.44 inches. Jefferson has seen 0.64 inches of rain, compared to October’s average of 2.37 inches.
