An annual Halloween tradition happens this week in Perry.
The Perry Chamber Spooktacular is on Friday from 4-6pm in the downtown area. Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti tells Raccoon Valley Radio 2nd Street from Otley Avenue to Pattee and Willis Avenue from 1st-3rd streets will be closed starting at 3pm to make it safer for families to cruise around and visit with businesses, while wearing their Halloween costumes.
“Quite literally thousands of people that’ll be downtown. I think when I talk to businesses they prepare for 1,000 pieces of candy, give or take. So then you figure each of them has an adult with them, maybe even two. So it really is just a massive amount of people that are just downtown, enjoying the festivities.”
Other activities include the Dallas County Hospital Safe and Healthy Drive-Thru in the north parking lot from 5-6:30pm, along with the citywide Beggars Night from 6-8pm.
Pasutti notes any business or organization is welcome to be a part of the Spooktacular event.
“We do ask that folks contact us because we do try to map it out a little bit to space it out, because it’s very fun for anyone when there’s a bunch of people right in a row and then a big space. So we help facilitate the placement and the spacing out of those pop-ups.”
