Greene County has the Class 2A District 8 title wrapped up with one regular season game remaining before opening the playoffs on Oct. 21 in Jefferson. After accepting a forfeit on Oct. 7 from Shenandoah after the Mustangs cancelled the rest of their varsity season after week five, the Rams host Clarke (Osceola) this Friday at Linduska Field. Clarke is 5-2 overall and 2-2 in District 8 while the Rams are 6-1 on the season and 4-0 in district play.

The Rams have held every opponent this season to fewer points than they score on average. Greene County has a good chance of doing that again this week since the Indians average 47 points a game. Four of Clarke’s five wins are over teams with a combined 3-26 record including 94-0 vs. Shenandoah. Red Oak (4-3) is the only team with a winning record the Indians have beaten, and that was just last Friday in Osceola when they intercepted five Red Oak passes and won 20-6.

Friday’s game can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage at 6:20 p.m. and kickoff at 7 o’clock.
