With the recent cancellation of the final varsity football games for the Perry Bluejays due to the amount of injuries to players, a special program is happening tomorrow on the Raccoon Valley Radio Network.
The Special Edition Sports Magazine on the State of Perry Football will feature several individuals from the Perry community, including Perry Schools Superintendent Clark Wicks, head football coach Bryce Pierce, Perry Activities Director Katelyn Whechel, along with Iowa High School Athletic Association Communications Director Chris Cuellar, Perry’s medical trainer Clint Lutterman with 21st Century Rehabilitation and several senior football players.
Raccoon Valley Radio’s Shawn Kenney explains that this program is looking to present the facts of why this decision was made to cancel the rest of the varsity football season.
“This was a tough week, an emotional week, for the community of Perry because nobody wants to make this decision, nobody wants to be in a position where you forfeit the remaining three games. So we thought it would be a good idea to talk to the people closest to the situation, along with the seniors because it’s the seniors who get impacted so much. So we’re going to bring a variety of voices and just present the facts.”
Wicks shares his comments about the players who participated at the varsity level.
“Just a huge thank you to those student-athletes that have been part of the football program and have been committed to playing football this year.”
Th Special Edition Sports Magazine on the State of Perry Football will be on KDLS starting at 6pm tomorrow on 1310AM, 99.7FM and 94.3FM. You can also tune in at raccoonvalleyradio.com and on the mobile KDLS app on a smart device.
