The Scranton Fire Department responded to two structure fires Tuesday morning.

According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy, the Scranton Fire Department and Greene County Ambulance responded to the incident in the 1400 block of D Avenue at 10:05am. Fire Chief Doug Duff tells Raccoon Valley Radio a barn and a nearby corn crib were on fire and when they arrived on scene, the fire was spreading to a nearby unharvested soybean field.

Duff says the owner was burning some debris next to the barn when the structure caught on fire. Duff points out the owner was planning to burn both the barn and corn crib, so they let those burn down, but contained the fire from spreading further into the soybean field. Eventually fire crews put out all of the fires. Duff adds no one was hurt in the incident.
