The Guthrie Center School Board met Monday night for its April session, and while it was a brief meeting, numerous items were discussed.
Superintendent Steve Smith tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the major item passed was the 2014-15 fiscal year district budget.
“Our tax rate remained really close to the same, down just a little bit to $11.04, so pretty happy with that in terms of tax rates. And I believe our budget, which is just over $9 million, will be easy for us to stay under.”
Another item the Board discussed pertained to the 2014-15 academic calendar, which Smith says will be almost identical to the one implemented for this current school year.
“Obviously you’ve heard about the hours versus days discussion, but we kind of chose to stay with the days on that, simply so that we make sure our high school folks remain consistent with the hours we have established as part of Board policy.”
