Greene County high school seniors Kale Petersen and McKinley Robbins return to Long Lines Arena in Sioux City tonight to wrestle in the annual Night of Conflict featuring elite wrestlers from Iowa and other states. There are 24 matches scheduled with girls in 10 of the matches and boys in the other 14.
IAWrestle put the event together and Robbins is scheduled for match number 19 while Petersen is in the second to last bout. Robbins is a three-time State Tournament finalist for Greene County, winning a title in 2021 and finishing in second place in 2020 and ’22. Petersen has two state titles, the first for West Fork (Sheffield) in 2021 and last winter for Greene County.
Robbins will face Ayson Rice, a South Dakota wrestler with a pair of state titles to his name, while Petersen will take on Bondurant-Farrar’s Maximus Riggins, a Class 3A state medalist last Feb.
