There are a few things kids and families can be a part of at the Jefferson Public Library.

Library Director Jane Millard invites families with newborn to fifth graders to their first “No School Family Story Time” on Monday, September 26th.

“So we’ll be hosting a yoga-themed family story time. Join us as we read, sing and stretch our way through some guided yoga and meditation with Danielle Ross of Absolute Quality of Life Wellness.”

The story time will take place from 10-11:30am and kids seven and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Millard talks about the theme for this month in the Children’s Department.

“The Children’s Department is ‘Wild About Reading’ with our animal-themed activities. Stop by the department to identify ten different animal tracks in our Track and Find contest. We add new clues for different animals each week.”

Millard adds there are also weekly crafts to do as well. She encourages families to sign their child up for a free library card during National Library Card Signup Month. Youth are eligible for a library card as young as three and those are kept at the library until they are in seventh grade.  Contact the Children’s Department at 515-386-4415 for more information.
