A Dallas County city is under a water emergency.
The City of Dexter has implemented its stage four mandate of a water emergency. This means that residents can’t use water for outdoor irrigation of vegetation, restaurants are prohibited from serving water to customers unless the customer specifically requests it, refilling of swimming pools and spas is prohibited, washing vehicles and other types of mobile equipment that are not done on commercial lots is prohibited, among other restrictions that can be found below.
The water emergency is for all residential and commercial areas within the City of Dexter under further notice. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
CHAPTER 94 WATER CONSERVATION PLAN
CODE OF ORDINANCES, DEXTER, IOWA 461
- No outdoor irrigation of vegetation shall be allowed.
- Commercial nurseries and similarly situated establishments shall water only on designated days between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. and shall use only hand-held buckets, hoses, or drip irrigation.
- The washing of automobiles, trucks, trailers, boats, and other types of mobile equipment upon the immediate premises of commercial car washes and commercial service stations in the immediate interests of the public health, safety, and welfare shall occur only between the hours of 12:00 noon and 6:00 p.m.
- The washing of automobiles, trucks, trailers, boats, and other types of mobile equipment not occurring upon the immediate premises of commercial car washes and commercial service stations shall be prohibited.
- The filling, refilling, or adding of water to swimming pools, wading pools or spas is prohibited.
- Use of water from fire hydrants shall be limited to firefighting and/or other activities immediately necessary to maintain the health, safety, and welfare of the residents of the City.
- Restaurants are prohibited from serving water to their customers except when specifically requested by the customers.
- Water shall not be used to wash down sidewalks, driveways or other paved areas except to alleviate immediate fire or sanitation hazards.
- The use of water for construction, commercial, manufacturing, or processing purposes shall be substantially reduced, and shall be monitored on a daily basis, unless done with reclaimed waste water.
- No water will be used for air conditioning purposes.
- Unmetered construction water shall not be allowed.
