The State Parks Centennial Vintage Auto Tour will make a stop at the Springbrook State Park in Guthrie County as a journey to visit all of Iowa’s state parks in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the state parks.

Organizer and former Chief of State Parks Kevin Szcodronski says he uses his 1930 Ford Model A to visit every state park in Iowa and Springbrook State Park is one of the final parks on his schedule. He describes what makes this vintage tour special.

“The biggest thing that jumps out is people are really proud of their nearby park?. And those that have joined us are really pleased to go out with us and talk about the park. A lot of them have been in town for a long time and they grew up going to that park and that brings back memories. So overall, we basically (provide the opportunity for) local people (to) have a lot of pride in their state park. That’s been pretty clear.”

The Vintage Auto Tour is open to the public on Saturday and will start at the Guthrie County State Bank at 9:30am and then they will head to Springbrook State Park at 10am. The State Parks Centennial Vintage Auto Tour will visit all 94 Iowa State Parks by the time the quest is over.
