Influenza season will be here before you know it and several medical providers and pharmacies are starting to roll the new flu shots out now.
Dallas County Health Department Public Information Officer Ann Cochran tells Raccoon Valley Radio the annual flu shot and covid vaccine, as well as any covid booster, are not only safe to take together, but you could also take advantage of something else.
“Vaccines (taken) at the same time potentially could save you some money if you are going to your own clinic for those shots. If you get them both at the same time you won’t have to pay for two separate office visits.”
Cochran points out getting a flu shot is the best protection against the seasonal flu.
“One of the interesting things that happened during the height of our covid (pandemic) is that fewer people last season got the flu. And it was because people were doing things like wearing a mask, and staying home if they’re sick, and washing their hands a whole lot. So those kinds of things can tamp down the severity of how bad the flu will spread this year.”
Contact your medical provider or a pharmacy to check on the status of the flu and/or covid vaccine and booster shots.
