Although not as warm as last week, the temperature today is expected to be warmer than Monday and reach 50 degrees with at least  partial sunshine this afternoon. That’s good news for high school outdoor sports teams, who are looking for something other than the snow and ice they woke up to Monday morning.

The Greene County High School spring sports teams are all in action today. The Rams play golf vs. Ballard (Huxley) with the JV/varsity boys at the Jefferson Community Golf Course at 4 p.m. The girls play at 4 p.m. just north of Huxley.

The Greene County and Paton-Churdan boys’ track and field squads go to Gowrie for the Prairie Valley boys’ two-class meet. The Rams will be in the large class and the Rockets will be in the small class. This meet was postponed on Monday and moved to today.

The Rams send the girls to the Carroll Coed track and field meet today at Carroll Athletic Field. This meet also was postponed Monday and rescheduled for today.

High school track and field teams have only until this Thursday night to submit performances for Drake Relays qualification. The Rams have only had one full meet and 2/3 of another so far this outdoor season. Thursday’s weather forecast is for less than ideal conditions when the Greene County boys travel to a meet in Des Moines hosted by Saydel and the girls travel to Perry for the Jayette Relays.
