The ADM boys soccer team won its second consecutive match Thursday night, coming from behind to knock off North Polk 4-1 in Adel.
According to the scoring summary of head coach Bill Shields, after surrendering the game’s first goal, the Tigers’ Noah Bardwell evened the contest after he took a cut back pass from Johnny Reel and skillfully lobbed the ball over goalkeeper into the top right corner of the net.
With the score tied 1-1 at halftime, the Tigers then took control early and often in half number two. In fact, ADM scored two goals within the first two minutes–one from Connor Luther and the other on a header from Jake Hutzell. Matthew Oberreuter was credited with the assist on Hutzell’s goal for his well-directed corner kick.
The final goal of the match came in the final minute, when Ryan Head assisted on Noah Bardwell’s second goal of the day.
The varsity squad, now 2-3 on the young season, will next play on Monday night, as the Tigers host the Boone Toreadors.
ADM’s JV soccer team was also in action Thursday evening, playing host to a powerful Urbandale JV squad.
The Tigers opened the scoring with a rebound goal from Ethan Kaney. Kaney’s first shot attempt off a pass from Daniel Finnegan was initially blocked by Urbandale’s goalkeeper, but Kaney was able to follow up the block with a smash to the top shelf.
Unfortunately for the Tigers, Urbandale JV scored on a penalty kick to even the game, and it would end in a 1-1 draw.
