The Paton-Churdan School District has two new programs they are rolling out this school year.
Superintendent Kreg Lensch says they are providing an elective with Family and Consumer Science classes with instructor Ali Batz. He explains why they are branching out for these new elective courses.
“Well I think it’s just a matter of trying to provide opportunities for our kids within our own building. Obviously, our kids take most of their electives at the high school down in Greene County and sometimes the schedules just don’t always work out. So if we can provide them with some other opportunities here on our own campus, we look to do that.”
Lensch notes another new program is with Denise Kennedy as an interventionist, which he believes is the way education is moving toward, especially coming out of the covid pandemic.
“We’ve got to provide, as a school district and administratively, some support systems to help those kids recover or catch back up for a lack of a better term. That’s an area and a position that does just that, you’re trying to take care of learning loss while at the same time trying to take care of those situations that happen at a normal rate. I think that’s a good addition for us.”
Lensch adds Kennedy will also work with students that need more academic challenges to heightened their education.
