It’s Homecoming week in the Greene County school district and Friday’s night’s football game with Des Moines Christian features two teams coming off losses last Friday night. The Lions fell to 1-2 with a 32-27 defeat at the hands of ACGC while the Rams are 2-1 after falling in Carroll 35-0 to Kuemper Catholic. The Lions three opponents are a combined 6-3 while the Rams opponents are a combined 5-5.
The Lions rely heavily on the pass when on offense. Quarterback Tate Plate is off to a hot start throwing the ball with 849 yards and 12 touchdowns. DMC hasn’t been nearly as effective when it comes to running the ball.
Greene County is more balanced between the run and pass with quarterback Gabe Ebersole leading the Rams in the air and on the ground.
Friday’s game will be played at Linduska Field in Jefferson after the first scheduled home game was moved to a neutral site because of issues with new sod. After playing on the road in weeks two and three it’s finally the first true home game and its Homecoming. Friday’s game can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage at 6:20 p.m. and kickoff at 7 o’ clock.
