cinderellaIf you’re looking for something to do this weekend, why not check out the latest local theater production?

The Perry High School Drama Department will present Kristi Cunningham’s Cinderella: A Dream Come True tonight and tomorrow.

Drama coach Merrilee Bales says she chose the play because it features a large cast and has a fun spin on the class fairytale.

“Even though it is the basic Cinderella story, there’s just like with Jacques in there and a few others like the princess wannabes there’s a lot more humor in this than I see in the Disney one.  But the basic story is there” says Bales.

In addition to the normal evening performances at the high school, this year the cast will also be doing a special lunchtime matinee at the Hotel Pattee.

Regardless of which performance you see, senior Jessie Laughridge who plays Cinderella says it’s a fun and interactive show.

“We get to walk out into the audience and you guys get to see us be around you, and we’re still in character so you get to really interactive with the play.  So it’s really great for kids because they get to kind of be a part of it.”

Evening performances take place in the Perry Performing Arts Center at 7:30pm tonight and tomorrow.  Tickets are available at the door for $5 for adults and $3 for students.
