There’s still one more non-district game to play before district football begins for most of Iowa’s high school programs. Greene County plays Kuemper Catholic at Carroll Athletic Field on Friday at 7 p.m. on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

The Rams play in Class 2A District 8 and last season Coach Caden Duncan’s team went 5-0 in winning the district title and all five games had the 35-point margin rule with the running clock at some point. The district wasn’t regarded among the top several in 2A.

Through the first two weeks of the regular season, teams in District 8 have compiled 9-3 record with Greene County, Clarke Community (Osceola), Red Oak, and Shenandoah, all 2-0. Des Moines Christian is 1-1 and Clarinda has an 0-2 record. The Cardinals may have played the most difficult schedule so far, while, Clarke and Shenandoah have played a pair of 0-2 teams, and the other three have played one team with one win and another with zero victories. District play begins on Friday, September 16.
